It doesn't mean they are either. In this world and last world, I think my village has traded twice. And one of those trades wasn't really a trade but we gave a guy a few spare items and later on he came back and repaid us.

Last world, fairly early into the world, I had cupboards full of silver bars to trade. No one wanted them. Not even a single person. We had so many and they were worth so little we used them as building materials. People still didn't want/need them.

my group has been trading with locals, both last world and currently, while people on the forums proclaim that trade is dead, and that there are no goods of interest to advanced villages

Which items do you trading? I am curious about which of those considered valuable.

You have to at least admit there is way less trading going on in general though compared to legacy worlds and I think that local trading may not always work out very well depending on your needs and your luck in settling near someone who is willing, has something you want and you also have something they want. I also don't think a local trade relationship will be as beneficial later on as it would be early game considering at least one of you is likely looking to trade for goods that will help increase your quality and there will come a time where one person begins to develop beyond what their local trade partners can offer them.

Why are charter stones implemented at all in that case? If the requirements for them make it so only large factions are going to get them then only large factions will be porting to each other. Smaller villages and hermits will be confined to local trading and larger villages won't have them available as trade partners unless they are nearby.

Alternatively, if at some point everyone does get a charter stone up what would be the point in continuing local trade relationships at all?

I do understand your point but they just need to make up their minds, do we get fast travel or not and if not then just fucking get rid of it so we can stop playing the waiting game, suck it up and go do some local trades.

The point was perhaps simply to make them a bit exclusive.

Kaios, would you prefer we got rid of them, or kept them?
