It's worth noting that brick walls have already come up and been requested.

It only makes a bad argument when it's the only argument or no supporting evidence for it. If it's based on a history, it's not a slippery slope, but then a valid argument. Now, I'm not sure development around here has shown that history, but player requests in C&I sure have.

Thinking about this some more, and I have to say I'm against it because it guarantees that only developed players will get all the loot. I think it's better to have an even playing field where newbies too can get to be the first looters, whether it's via using a wrecking ball or being the first to see walls have decayed away.

The good thing about this would be that those annoying palisades around resources would be a thing of the past.
Maybe once there is a claim decayed or not you cant bash pali but once there is no claim coverage you may bash it.

It should be a thing for this thing alone. Maybe, require much less strength so the local resources wouldn't be palisaded within the first week from the world start.

I'd say this is my newest favorite argument against it. And it makes a lot of sense, the people that are already the strongest would be the ones to be able to breach/loot places first and without a wrecking ball.

And this is probably the reason I'd be more in favour of it. However I do believe that there are several other, better solutions to the localized resource issue. Besides, it falls again on them becoming more or less exclusive to the already strongest characters.

Regardless, I feel that if applied, it should at least be left for the next world as applying it now would possibly
- Affect any existing design by surprise in an unfair way
- Any possible bug or abuse could be disastrous (i.e.: someone finds a way to "trigger" the palibashing with shield up still)

I'm OK with this. But do it this world nit next. So any bugs/glitches/exploits are found on a world that's about to reset. So no harm no foul. OK if some exploits and destroys your place that sucks but at least the world would reset soon. If you've got people finding exploits or bugs next world then it's just a waste of time. Imo

Why so much people wants to raid more easily?
I came back to this game, last time was world 7, where I quit because every time I created a new character I had just the time to build a timber house and start getting some crops, then someone came and beated the shit out of me and stole all my stuff, and when i built a palisade, it didn't last the time to build a minehole, they smashet it bare hands, leveled my base and killed me, and I clearly had nothing valuable.
This time everything looked more peaceful, so i planted trees to make a nice hall in cherry and stuff, then someone while i was logged out entered and destroyed all medicine, curiosities, food and tools, and took nothing, because most stuff was still on the floor, because q15 stuff is useless for most people and I've a new character, so I worked 2 days to make brickwall, since I remembered the uselessness of the palisade. Well, I got to dinner, and 1 hour later I spawned in Akitabara, I got back thinking they destroyed bed and fire, but they leveled the base, great hall, timber house, all kinds of kilns, furnaces and stuff, coops, and half-soaked brickwall, and they KNEW there was nothing valuable because they already raided the house 2 days earlier...
The zone where I live has, like, 3 inhabited places, and something like 15 abandoned places, most of them leveled, some with only giant breaches and completely raided, and I'm starting to think they abandoned the game for this reason, and not because everyone built so much stuff and got bored in a few months, because the amount of ruins is massive...
Since the game is already so brutal and difficult for beginners, because if any marauder can do this stuff in so little time even getting Lps to level up skills becomes difficult, and the environment isn't already very forgiving, because if you get attacked by an adder while lagging you're simply dead (I found a friendly player that gave me a lot of medicines to save me when I was 3 HP), and it's like a rocket worm, you cannot outrun most animals as a beginner, why making it even easier to destroy the only protection players have?

if you wanna screw the hermits do it properly:

1) remove scents
2) remove ql and stats from pvp equation
2) make every wall bashable, with different time
3) villagers can't commit crime against their own
4) bring W11

suddenly hermitage becomes impossible due to random attacks

villages and factions become the only viable option to survive

villagers need to take turn watching walls, but pvp is viable because theres no ql and stat BS
