I think it would cause problems then it would solve. Imagine being in a fight and clicking somewhere to move, but your character does not move in that direction because pathfinding algorithm found an obstacle and made your char go around.

Ultima does it well. So why not make it here?

It works just great in Dota. And it is prety mush one big fight in there.

I for one do not support the addition of path-finding, makes fleeing more interactive.

Maybe. At some point. There's a fair bit to it.
