Farming Seed Autostack - Quality Killer

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

Farming Seed Autostack - Quality Killer

Postby Robben_DuMarsch » Sun Sep 06, 2015 4:38 pm

Its really a nice grind reduction having all these seeds that stack and don't require ridiculous amounts of inventory space.

But the stacked seeds round down their quality.
In order to farm for quality, you now need to do an inventory action every time you harvest a tile to stop yourself from killing quality. Unfortunately, this makes farming more click intensive and grindy than even in Haven 1. :o

Can this mechanic be reviewed and modified so that harvesting areas of tile does not automatically kill crop quality?

It's been brought up before, probably doesn't belong in the HDI subforum though.

Hopefully we find a solution that's both UI elegant and functional :)

A simple solution would be to only stack seeds of the same quality.

I personally feel we need a seed inventory only like quiver for farming (sowers sack?). Preferably with auto sort features. Then seed stacking isn't needed, but with autosort we save the clicking too.

I always wanted to farm in HnH1 but the clicking completely barred me from it :/

This works even better. In the meantime, a UI option allowing a player to toggle "forced non-stack" of items of different qualities would help other activities, not just farming.

Quick implementation:

Farmbag - Quiver-like inventory, only stacks seeds/farm goods of same essence, vitality, substance. When you say to area plant, it pulls the highest average quality out between essence, vitality, and substance - Plants that.

Will consider this.

Well, if there is already a mechanism for piles of bones, entrails and so on, why could there not be the same for seeds, but a pile in your inventory ?

Because they are completely different things?
