Magic!

So we've always had hearthmagic & teleporting, we have druid's helms, we used to have trolls in caves, and we still have the forest ent/dryad things.
Will magic ever become more than that? I personally love fantasy in videogames because real life elements can get boring after a time. I personally wasn't to fond of Salem's curse system by the way. I do enjoy the fantasy creatures & I think more could be added with actual uses, and I think there could be room to add fantasy materials such as magic strings for sewing, magic crops to grow etc.
One interesting idea I had was being able to chop down the forest ent/dryad, since it's made of wood, it could be some high quality magical wood used for something. Another idea would be a healing druid spell that you can learn (Obviously would have a charge up time and you wouldn't be able to use it many times in a day.) I'd love to know the developers' direction for magic or lackthereof in this game if possible.
Also if you've looked in my recruitment thread in the photo you can see there are areas of the game that certainly look magical, could there be magic specific biomes added to explore where fantasy creatures/events etc take place?

hmm, maybe magic as solely a healing thing? Rituals, shamans, herbs and potions?
