a buddy and I were just shooting shit as usual in village chat and discussing how almost all of the roofing materials are, then we had a real gem moment:

since there's already going to be colored bricks in the future (yellow ball clay, red acre clay, whatever, the way it used to be) why not allow us to craft colored pottery shingles out of the clay? it'd be sensible to cost 3 clay per tile and then require it to be fired in the kiln, and then ta-da, you can have an aesthetically pleasing roof material.

i'm amazed nobody suggested this yet. maybe someone did, but i couldnt find it by searching.

That'd be nice as such, but ideally there should be some geometry to go with that. Not that you couldn't argue the same for the other materials. Idk. I tried a naive implementation some time ago, and that looked too much like shit. Might explore.

This. Also nice would be slate shingles. I guess it'd be best to be lax and make it any stone shingles. Also, let us beat metal bars into sheets that can serve as thatching material.

I think one of the issues with thatching is how far spread the textures get. They're quite nice at the size of the leanto, but when the same texture gets stretched the entire roof in width, it starts to look wonky. Maybe repeating tiles of the texture instead of a single stretch?
