In legacy it took 2 seeds, and iirc each tile of wheat gave 3. So we used to get 1 loaf of bread per tile harvested in excess seeds, and now we're sitting somewhere at 0.2 loaves per tile.
This holds out to ancient farming in real life.
With present farming methods, fertilizer, cultivation, and GMO, we average about one loaf of bread per square acre. Yields in modern farming are far and above that of primitive farming, so one loaf of bread per 4 square meters actually sounds about right.
