Steel Re-inforced doors for houses and lock-picking

I'm sure this has been suggested before but it would be cool if for a high price you could put a steel gate on a house door preventing access after someone has potentionally battering rammed your walls in. It would also be cool if either a high stealth allowed lock picking or the lock picking skill could be added in game as well. Could be used on chests as well. (Could also lead to a system of being able to place 'traps' on locks too.

That's a nice idea, lets expand it.

Some houses could be reinforced. With steel locks, stronger doors, and metal bar windows. That would require some costly investment of course, but could be used to store best stuff.

Now during base raid, such house obviously would attract all the attention. What to do with it?

1) it could be ignored
2) it could be destroyed. Time and energy consuming process, howewer falling roof and other constructions would ruin 10-30% stuff inside
3) it could be torched. Will take some time to burn, (less with straw thatching roof ¦] ) but in result 80-90% stuff will be destroyed
4) it's lock could be lockpicked and doors opened without much of the struggle above. However lock-pickers stealth skill will compete with lock quality, determining chance of success.

Stealth skill would have more use. Steel would have more use. Base raids would be more interesting and diverse. And on top of that, every good raid group should have dedicated locksmith.

I like the idea of lockpicking, and having its efficiency be affected by stealth. Picking a lock should probably leave quite a long-lasting scent.

Yeah, we should make palisade and brickwall and door locks pickable . 69% to success and 31% to fail. If you succesfully pick lock it leaves no scents and gate/door opens. If you fail it will leave scent of lockpicking that lasts for 2 hours. And you can make tool to pick locks from 1 nugget of any metal. And it is consumed upon use. You can have as many tries to pick lock as you like. Maybe there could be some nice minigame like in fishing! Im sure that would really add some nice gameplay content into haven and hearth!

11:07 < Beanieman> Being able to open locked palisades is indeed a planned mechanic
11:08 < Beanieman> There shouldn't be a 100% success rate though, we're modeling the mechanic on Salem's Tinder drill

Yeah lock-picking a palisade with a random chance of success would be pretty lame. I think something like this could work though:

*Chests & coffers can be lockpicked normally
*Palisade and brick wall gates can only be lockpicked from the inside, and takes a long time (5-10 minutes).

I really do have the best ideas.
