Idea - Improving Items with one or more of its materials

I really would love to see some frm of Item Improvement system, because TBH some items are re-re-....REEEALY hard to come by, and did i mention the materials? i mean I've had this stone axe since my reinacrnation in the eternal Hearth fire of the Haven soul... That may not mean much to PvP'ers. But for those of us who Toil in the fields and Sweat over the looms, it means alot....
