You would eat lot too if you'd haveto lay eggs almost every day.

If you look closely you'll notice that eggs are roughtly 1/4 of the size of the chicken, so with each egg it'll lose quite some body mass...

They do eat a lot more than they did in previous worlds. Mine go through at least a 4x5 plot of beets a day.

To feed 10 cattle/sheep/pigs, I need maybe 10 tiles of beets per day. To feed 10 chickens, I need 50 tiles of beets. These are numbers for Druidic Rite level harvesting.

Yeah they eat too much currently.

Farm a seed bearing crop for fodder. Less efficient per tile, but it'll save your mouse hand. 1 bucket of seeds (1k, or about excess production from 100 tiles of barley with Druidic) will make 200 fodder.

Why do my chickens eat more than my cows?

On that note: Why do pregnant animals not seem to eat any more than normal animals? It's certainly nothing like the tenfold difference back in Haven if it does exist.

Cows actually do seem to eat less than they used to. It used to be ~5 units of fodder per animal, but right now I'd guess it's more like 2.5. Even if it was 2.5, I'd think I'd notice with 3 pregnant cows, but they're only eating 30 fodder a day for 10 animals.

I'm not complaining about that, realistically with the amount of quality types we need a lot more breeding animals to get quality. Just making note in case it's not acting as intended.
