Is it not just the livestock eating out of the chicken coop instead of the trough, or has that been disproven?

I have one friend who has his coops away from the animals, and "they eat a fricking lot" to quote him on that one.

My trough is getting eaten from, and at an increasing rate as I get more livestock.

My coop is not in range of my other animals. Can confirm it's just mega-hippo-chickens.
