I don't get why does every new combat move have to top everything that has been introduced previously

The real problem with the combat system is that Steal Thunder hits blue and yellow, and has to hit through all defenses to steal IP. So it's basically un-useable. There's no way of reducing the opponents IP. So IP cost doesn't matter, just spam take aim a few times and you're set.

Maybe more moves should take IP, including offensive and defensive UA moves. Fights should start you off with 1 or 2 IP and Take Aim should be a use 1 gain two type of move. A small regeneration rate of IP (say like 1 per 10 seconds or based on fight intensity if that is still a thing) would likely be necessary.

What's bad about it? You wouldn't be able to punch punch chop and would actually be required to think when you're deciding between putting up defenses or going in for the kill, yeah I admit I haven't thought about the pros and cons completely but it's a fairly bare bones suggestion. Explain what is wrong with it and I would probably agree.

Or, you know, shut up.
