they don't think it be important but it do

I mean animals have it, so why not we? I'm getting tired of getting stuck on things and having to click so much to move.

A couple of different reasons. I've asked loftar to make an authoritative post on it.

Honestly, if we ever get pathfinding for players, it should be automatically disabled during combat.

You can do pathfinding now on the client and they can't disable that. I would hope that if loftar decides to do this he'd do it client side anyway.

Even if he doesn't do it client side, someone can. Pathfinding is going to exist, the question is who it'll come from at this point.
