Salt, Smoke Houses, and food preservation

Would like to see salt added, either as an ore (halite) or as a simple bonus from mining.

Salt could then be used to make brine and marinade.

Meats could be marinaded or packed in salt to preserve them or..

Smoke houses could be built and used to preserve or enhance meats and cheeses. They would function like ovens, but would only accept oak and the various fruit woods (or simplify to any wood, but really, pine smoked meat? Yuck!)

These would be ideal to add whenever spoilage is introduced (if ever). As standalones these add variety and LARPiness, but don't really provide anything necessary to survival.

Great idea.

Salt is a big deal. Also raw meats, intestines and other inard crap staying in cupboards without making smell, always looked weird. Lets make shit rot, like palisades without claim.. but faster.

Simple jerky could be created by crafting thin slices of meat and putting that onto a drying rack that is in the sun.
