This.

Could an alternative way to discover items be added? There are foragables/other goods my crafting characters need to discover that I can't easily have them discover.

Maybe allow us to put the item in the study window and the penalty would be time and curiositiess not studied.

Good idea. I have the same problem as Rye and since my crafter already got killed while foraging once. I dont really want to risk her again.

Studying items to discover them

Postby Sever » Mon Dec 07, 2015 7:47 pm

For the purpose of "discovering" items you have not found natively, all items can be studied if you have not discovered them. Studying them is worth 50 LP and takes 1 to 4 hours with 50 mental weight and a large experience cost, say 1000. Upon completion, the item is kicked back into your inventory or sits idle in the mentory if it is full at the time.

Values are of course up in the air. I suspect the study time should actually be very long, like days, or variable depending on the item. A piece of meat or silk filaments should not take as long as a gold nugget or a silk thread, I think.

Something like this is desperately needed for division of labour purposes.

I would like to add that it is an odd experience to have people ask if they can discover something the next time you have a bar in the smelter or when you cook a loaf of bread. Granted, it would still happen if this idea locks up a mentory slot for days, so I honestly stand by it always taking no more than a hour.

I can also see noobs putting weird things in their inventories from containers they found and it eating up all their exp.
