bridges...

Postby Eemerald » Tue Dec 08, 2015 10:50 am

So I know its been mentioned a lot in previous worlds, and although you can get by relatively fine without bridges if you want to spend a few extra hours going around stuff, it would be nice to cross rivers when on horseback or on a wagon without wasting so much time finding where rivers end and having to trek down the path you could have just crossed for...

please?

Seconded!

Even if we just had to put together a temporary makeshift bridge to make it realistic, some rope, planks or logs and just for the smaller rivers. Like this;

I assume rafts will be reimplemented at some point.

Bridges would be cool, for sure.

But you know that you can drive wagons over shallow water now, right? That makes navigating around rives a lot easier, since you can often find a ford.

I bet bridges as they should be (an object) are hard to implement currently, because of game engine. There are some hacks, for example special shallow-water-like tile type, but it will be hard to make proper visualisation for them and it also may have another problems (hacks always leads to problems).

My personal opinion that currently it's better to optimize map generator so every river will have shallow water 'bridge'

At the very least can we ford rivers? Say collect stones and other debris to create temporary crossing points. Obviously rivers will wash them away eventually but its a different solution if bridges are to much work. :)
