Quality Prospecting

Instead of having to dig randomly at clay and dirt and draw water from tons of random spots to find the best quality, why not have a dousing rod type feature, where you can consume a piece of clay/dirt/water (maybe rocks too?) and have some item douse/prospect towards the nearest node with higher quality than the item you sacrificed. Finding nodes right now is both a luck of the draw and a horrible time consuming slog to find anything better than 60 in two stats. Would need to have high enough survival to find the node (so hard cap the quality the item can find at the crafter's survival).

Something I thought about might be to make quality nodes actually look like an area of quality. Distinctive types of terrain for better quality soil, water, clay, etc. that can be discovered throughout the world such as sparkling water or fertilized soil.

Of course you would still require whatever survival is necessary and no you wouldn't be able to have an arrow pointing to them but at least this way you're not running around like a chicken with its head cut off checking water, soil, clay every couple of minutes and could simply spot these quality nodes when you pass by.

i still think we should be able to improve a node. maybe like compost plants and meat to make soil, or to make items that can improve a soil location.
the ability to purify clay, like take high quality water, and combine it with clay to wash out the impurities?
as to water, boil it in a still and get more pure water?
for glass, make a sieve from iron.
etc etc
maybe not make huge leaps and bounds. but allow the player to increase the goods they dig up, or the locations they dig from.
if its locations, then these shoudl resturn to standard once you no longer invest in them. this way its not like the nodes will be better forever and the world ends in high quality.
this also makes settling anywhere better than having to search for the best quality of everything we have now.

Good idea.
We could maybe add shit to the game. You could collect your crap in trough and then throw it around to increase soil ql.

what about collecting rain water? supposedly that's the purest water, spring water is still better for you i think

I was thinking about this too! x3 Well I'm a new player and all.. just when I was looking up how to find or make higher quality soil (which is what I will need for trees later!) I was thinking there was a way to increase the quality of the soil myself through some kind of effort. Kind of surprised something like that wasn't implemented yet.
