Idea for end of world instead of altar

Postby overtyped » Sun Feb 14, 2016 6:35 am

How about next time the world is gonna end, instead of an altar, there is a beast 5 times stronger than a troll, moves faster than sprinting and immune to bows, travels over water and destroys any object blocking it instantly. In this way it can be a server wide effort to slay the beast, instead of this altar shit, that can be destroyed by a 25 str naked alt.
Here is what the beast could perhaps look like. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycon

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

What do you propose with our 200 stat capped characters? A zerg rush to knock its def out while others chop it to death?

yes, I want blood to rain down, as our great God Glycon devours all who oppose him.

While a fight on that scale would be cool there are a few problems that would absolutely have to be addressed first.
1) Everyone's clients would shit themselves and crash if there were that many players on the screen trying to fight at the same time.
2) How are you going to get anyone to work together even under a singular goal like defeating a god monster?

Maybe if the monster guaranteed the world would reset and it could only be delayed by groups injuring it or possibly killing it. The fight should still contain all of the impossibilities that you presented to make it seem absolutely futile but still make it worth entering Valhalla for.

I think there is a grave misunderstanding here. No mere mortal can hope to defeat the Great Snake God Glycon The All Powerful. You are simply giving yourself to him, as he devours you, and if his soul becomes quenched with enough worthy souls, he will go back into a thousand years sleep, and the world will end.
