Dowsing mechanics/wells

Dowsing is currently very obtuse and not very useful. A member of my group spent over thirty minutes dutifully following around the schizophrenic pings of a dowsing rod before I told him instead to just start randomly placing down well signs instead. He found a buildable well within 2 minutes with my method.

Possible solutions:
*Show the exact location where you can build a well while you have the dowsing rod equipped like in legacy.

AND/OR

*Allow a means of fixing on a single ping.

AND/OR

*Have the pie slices from the dowsing pings stay on screen rather than fade immediately.

Pings stayed on the map in legacy either
