Castration of Tamed Animals

Postby rye130 » Mon Mar 07, 2016 4:45 pm

With the addition of tamable horses this world, selling good riding horses could be a very profitable business because of their usefulness. The only problem with doing that for a business is that you sell people the ability to recreate your product... With your high-quality horse, they can breed more of their own and compete with your business. In order to work around this, I suggest the ability to castrate/neuter/whatever horses (and potentially other animals) so that they can be traded, without giving away their breeding potential. This would also be nice so that you could sell milking cows or sheep for shearing.

Not a terrible idea.

this is downright horrific....against.

also if the cows cant breed then they'd eventually run out of milk. you may as well just trade the milk.

Why is it horrific?

We do it to cats and dogs all the time, for their own safety.

Personally i like the idea. But... for political correctness. Just make it so that the animal wont breed outside of the claim in which it was born.

Basically ''Sealing'' the horse.
Pretty cool concept.

On the backside of this... why not give animals a "timer" for death. So they die of natural causes as well.

wut?

no they dont. cows just need 1 calf and then can be milked forever, as long as you milk them regularly....

they must have changed it since w7 then. im still not aware of every little change that was made.

and just because we do it to cats and dogs all the time doesnt make it right, or even make sense. also "for their own saftey"? wut?

the reason neutering and spading got so damn popular is because of moronic owners that couldnt keep their damn animals in check. i just cant stomach the idea. i play games to get away from the harshness of reality.

And you chose to play this game?

Yes, we do... how many suffering animals would be in existence in RSPCA, PDSA or whatever animal charities you have in your country if they were not spayed? it may not be the animals fault that humans are idiots... but that is a universal constant, idiots exist. However, i have no intention to try and shit on your beliefs or whatever. So ill move on.

Although i do get why you dont want to deal with this in game. that is fine, hence why i suggested not spaying the animals... but having a form of "ownership" via their initial birth claim. it has the same result in game, but without all that touchy subject fluff.

Because a medical procedure is touchy, opposed to all the murdering and nasty hostilities in game and on the forum.

There's no nice way to say it, but Synaris might be a bit...over sensitive when it comes to that.
I do think he's got a good point about moronic owners, but not everybody that gets an animal helped is a moron, or unethical.

In a game in which real life things are simulated and put into game terms and mechanics, I feel that you should be able to call what you do, what it is.
Murder is murder, stealing is stealing, but spaying or neutering is too much? =/

Though naming should hardly be the biggest discussion in this topic I would think.
Just felt the need to offload my thoughts on that. No harm intended =)
