Alarms; help remove bots/alts

Postby LoLa » Fri Mar 11, 2016 4:22 pm

Considering people are using Bots & alternate characters as alarms by leaving them standing in an area that when using a custom client triggers an alarm alerting them to another player's presence, we could have buildable alarms of some type, that let you know someone is in an area without you actually having to be there.

Huh? You'd prefer that rather than keeping their master keys safe in case they ever want to change locks/create more slave keys, people have to create tons of slave keys - hopefully enough forever - and destroy their master keys. How is this better?

If you want to raid someone and take their master keys, you'd never be able to as long as they store them on another character and have them logged out..

Why would you want to have master keys when raiding?

You can change their locks with the master keys, as well as get in and out of their gates without having to destroy a fence, palisade or brick wall. I don't know if the developers intend for such things to happen though, so I'm fine with either way when it comes to master keys, but my main focus is on ideas that would remove the need for alts or bots, as I don't think they were ever something the developers intended in their vision of the game. So for the example for master keys, if you couldn't log out with them it would prevent many alts being created solely to store them, hopefully you see why I suggested it in this way.

You can't raid them if your walking through their gates. You'll get visitor debuff. The best you could do with someone's master keys is lock then inside.

You can't kill them, steal from them or destroy their things on their claim? Maybe I'm missing something I didn't know the game changed that drastically when it came to those mechanics since world 7..

IMHO you should not get visitor debuff when traversing a gate that you could open from the side you are approaching.

Would also be nice when you could, when holding the master key, configure the lock on a gate so you could set, per side and for open and close operations, if and what kind of key is required.

Thank you for linking this for me, I did not know this had been implemented. I don't necessarily have a problem with it either, but I'm still interested in ways to get rid of alts & bots, so if you have any ideas to do so please feel free to post them. :)
