Dream lands and tribunals

Postby xTrainx » Thu Mar 17, 2016 9:02 pm

i got this idea a while ago, and wanted to work a little on it. I was thinking of a separate world, separated from normal one, where one could access while sleeping in a bed. This world would have differents area where you can interact with other dreamers of the hearthland, maybe one for trading, althought you shouldn't be able to exchange item with others, nor drop them while in dream land, other for sparing too, but you shouldn't be able to pvp and raid/grief in anyway in there. One of the areas i was thinking about was a tribunal, wich i would like to more or less develope in this forum

The tribunal would be a place where people can take Crime scents and start trials, after the tribunal are activated, they assing a case to the victim of the scent, or in case theres no longer a victim, the one who brought the scent, and after that, he can choose to get a lawspeaker to talk for him, or he can do it himself. and after that, the perpetrator get a notification or is summoned in dreamland, where he can ask a lawspeaker to defend him or do it himself, and then, a random judge is chosen to oversee the trial, and if any of the parts disagree, another judge is chosen, and so on, until they agree, or if they dont, they both propose 1 judge themselve, wich they can then agree with the any of those too or else keep them both and a third random is chosen.

Once the Defense, the Prosecution and the Judge/Judges have been chosen, there will be a new chat window where the prosecution can explain how the scent originted, what damages were caused and what punishment should be recived, and the defense can constest all and every of the allegations of the other part, and explain their version of the story, and how what they did was acceptable by hearths standard. during this part, the judge should be able to listen to both parts equally and the chat should be accesible for everyone in the game, either by making it so anyone can enter the chat by some kind of code similar to the kin list that is displayed infront of the tribunal in a list of current codes, or by having a channel in the client with different the list of cases you can join to check out. either way, the point being, that the trial should be public.

The judge have powers in this chat, making it possible to mute one of the parts if its needed, for example if one is spamming or trying to sway the people by telling unconfirmed stuff or lies that are not allowed, or making it possible to let the parts post links to images to show screen shot proofs, and other number of similar benefits and can give the command to move the trial to the next stage

After all proofs are given and everything have been told, the judge can proced to the decition stage, where the judge and the hearthlings can decide if the defendant is either guilty or innocent, and also the heartlings. The value of the decicion should be something similar to:
  • Bilaterally agreed judge: 2
  • Hearthlings: 1.8
  • Randomly chosen judge: 1.7
  • Proposed Judge: 1.5

Once the judgement is done if the defendant is found guilty, the judge will proceed to choose from a list a punishment that best befit the crime (limited to the specific scent) that he can somehow vary, (as much as the code permits), and a new vote is made the same way to determine if the punishment is acceptable. If after 3 tries no punishment is decided, the least damaging punishment is used, and every part involved get a debuff as punishment.

after the punishment is done, the defendant can then build a new building, similar to an altar where he can pay whatever price was decide, and the victim, someone he ca choose to, or whoever started the trial, in that order, can make another building to recive whatever was put in by the altar.

if the punishment was stay locked in dreamland for a determined amount of time, or days, the defendant should be able to, with some effort, escape dream land jail, preferebly using the stealth skill.

if the punishment was death, the defendant should keep more of his stats than usual had he done it voluntarely

All those should have the common theme of making the payment of the sentence voluntarely to the defendant, and after some time have passed without the defendant answering or denying to pay the price, or after escaping, the judges can then choose from 1 to 10 people (limited to the kind of crime and punishment) to hunt down the defendant and to make the sentence effective. these people get a 3 buffs
  • Justice steps: allows the person to go throught any claim and door without getting the visitor debuff
  • Justice GLove: allow the person to take and lift any item in the defendant claim and posession
  • Justice Fist: allow the person to aggro the defebdabt, wich will allow him to also clip throught any wall, and stump, similar to nidbanes.
the point being, they should be able to get to the defendant, even if they block their ways, and if its needed, start aggro with the player, althought this shouldnt be possible for say, a trespass scent. they should also be able to drain lp and skill levels out of the defendant and conver them into an item (knowledge in a jar?) and all item they keep a the end are scent back to the tribunal, where the corresponding items are sent back to their original position or kept to the victim, if pertient.

at any point the defendant can aggro the, lets call them, justicars, and start battle agaisnt them, and any one who is with the defendant can do this too if they so choose.

well thats that, what do you think?

This seems to be with much complexity but just will accomplish with basically player controlling nidbanes. I do not think the hearthland should having such scripted justice.

well thats that, what do you think?

TL/DR system enforced law system is a terrible idea, one that can be gossly abused and should not be implemented at all.

Also, if you want justice you can take revenge with your own two hands, or just send a spooky ghost to fuck up the criminal and possibly even kill him. The later system which is causing more trouble than good btw.
