PURELY decorative plants and things underground

We should have some way to have plants underground, in light (or spite) of the recent update. Maybe build a soil patch with dirt, or a planter box with dirt and boards. It should be able to have things grow in it, but not be useful in any way other than decoration. No logs or blocks when chopped, no berries or seeds or whatever, no harvest, etc.
