Remove Labor Refusal of Hell Cart

Postby Ysh » Fri Apr 01, 2016 10:05 pm

I have been in some situation like this:

1. Out with the world to do some item grabbing.
2. With the boat, my trusted companion.
3. My boats and packs become heavy with goods.
4. Lifting the boat over my head.
5. Took a quick escape back to the hearth fires.
6. The boats and packs are unloaded.
7. I must return my boat to the waters.
8. I ask the cart for helping these boat labors.
9. Cart is refusing his help.
10. I must crawl my boat to her waters.

I think a cart can stop his feud with the empty boat. Clearly the full boat may be refused by the cart for balancing. Maybe the boat should use two or four of the cart's cargo spacings.

I put crates in my boat and teled to my hearth and they stayed in the boat just fine.

This is true and without issue. The problem becomes returning to the waters in the next trip. I must carry the boat myself. It cannot be taken with the cart. My hearth fire is not close to the waters. This is a great burden to me.

I mean, I don't disagree, but you could build a road to water and teleport with the boat

My village is pretty far from water too. Ended up making a road to the water and made a boathouse cabin with a pclaim for my river adventures. ;)

That would be great!

I once suggested that it would be cool if we could craft "hand sleds" with ropes and boards and when attached to some "immovable" (or heavy) objects like:
- Boats
- Rocks larger than 69% chipped (when they become liftable)
- Dead animals
- Logs
- etc...
We would be able to "drag" them around at normal speeds just like we drag a cart. More or less the "wheelbarrow" equivalent for liftables.*
I can't find the thread, though... so at least for now I support this - boats on carts!

Edit:
* This sounds like the cart, but the advantage of a hand sled is that you don't have to walk with the cart around, you carry it in your inventory and only use it when you need. Like... you just need to get a log from point A to B during a construction project, instead of slowly walking with it over your head, you attach the sled and quickly pull it behind you :D It also - as I said - works on stuff carts can't carry like larger rocks and boats.

A general solution beats a hack any day. Certainly a cart can check a boat for contents since things like that already happen. Why should boats be the only objects you can't put in a cart? Why should you have to build a road you won't use for anything else?

I mean, aside from the fact that they're bigger than the cart. Six looms would be, too. Bad argument.

So tldr: Cart should take empty boat? We've talked about that before. Might.
