Remove Eye Pain of Hell Detail

Postby Ysh » Fri Apr 08, 2016 3:33 pm

I have been in some situation like this:

1. Find a grand patch of land.
2. Aim to make her mine.
3. Installation of village idol professes my love.
4. Checking the detail of my idol.
5. The wood is putrid and sickly green.
6. The devious willow has slipped inside.
7. Willow detail is not matching well.
8. My idol is sad from bad looks.
9. Village morale dives.
10. No hope to rebuilding the grand idol.

I think that I should be able to change the looks of the idol (and every other item with vary material) by paying the cost of the item, in full, over again. The new payment would redefine the new looking. I think people like to have things uniform, but to delay construction until all of the materials is gathered has a too great cost. Also not all items can be destroyed and rebuilt, like my idol. This way people can be building some ugly but functioning items in early game, and go back to fix late once material is not scarce. Especially if you are to making some palisade materials matter, I think this is very important.

A preview option before building would be nice but Im not so sure we need full changes option without rebuilding. They are supposed to represent village spirit and authority. Take the extra time.

This was just some example. This can be important for some other scenario. Imagine: people building some village idol (or any other item) before material detail is added to it, and now they want to do some custom after the patch. Or maybe they have do some village rebrand initiative and now want to changing their color schemes. This is not just an issue of not ''taking the extra time'' as you try to trivialize it. Similar, if I want to change the color on some houses, it seems excessive that I must clear everything out, bash down the building, and rebuild it. Realistic maybe, but I think this can be a situation where gameplay is trumping flavor. Customization should be a fun thing to do to have some personalized village decorated as you are liking, not a burden to punish mistakes and delay my game progress.

+1. My village mate just shoved random woods into the idol while I was offline and we ended up with some diarrhea green monstrosity that now sits at the center of our village.

We should be able to select one material type to change in appearance and then the only build that in. No need to pay the complete cost.

I was considering this and would like this more. But I think maybe that was too easy and the devs would not like it. It is fair to me for certain.

Then you can simply destroy the object and rebuild from scratch...

Some items are not trivial to destroy (e.g. claims, buildings), hence this suggesting. I would gladly pay the whole price, but destroying is too hard for me to do, or maybe just not possible.

Usually you should realize the moment the build completed that your design is bad, soak should not have kicked in by then...
