Remove Awkward Using of Hell Words

Postby Ysh » Fri Apr 08, 2016 8:44 pm

I have been in some situation like this:

1. Belly groans and rumbles.
2. This is a warning, the hunger comes.
3. The hunger is not a kind man to the body.
4. It must be stopped before it can come.
5. Building a log pile and gathering the branches.
6. I drill with the branches to light a spark.
7. The spark comes and logs dance aflame.
8. ''The firebrand has burned down.''
9. I heat the meat and eat.
10. Hunger cannot enter the body for now.

I think that this message ''the firebrand has burned down'' is sounding like some strange English. I think it instead will read ''the firebrand has burned out.'' This is sounding less awkward for my ears.

You ask this to me or the firebrand? I think if the second, it is the reason for my suggesting, so I cannot know.

I think maybe you can clarifying what you mean. What is the meaning of ''that'' for how I talk, with some specifics, please.

I really don't understand how so many of you are so intolerant. I never have a problem understanding Ysh and he always has constructive posts. Just because English isn't his first language doesn't give you the right to belittle him for being any worse than you at typing English.

Thanks, but I think this is just some misunderstandings. I do not think he can mean some malice to me. Can we discussing the idea in this thread now please?

Idea is for the error message of brand burning to say ''the firebrand has burned out'' instead of ''the firebrand has burned down.''

I think Ysh understands English very well. Much better than most non-native speakers, anyway. He just needs more real life conversational experience.

On topic; Saying that a (camp)fire "burns down" sounds better and makes more sense than saying it "burns out", which would be more appropriate for things like candles and light bulbs.
