Was the Knarr such a good idea...?

Holds 5-6 people, 4-5 objects and would move at speed 6-10. Also can be lifted, but only when there are no objects stored inside.

And at least a dozen other such threads make me think...

Should the knarr be scrapped, or pigeon-holed, for the time being? It's been over a month and they're still costly, powerful, and completely insecure.
I'm not saying it can't be secured any number of ways. But for whatever reason our beloved devs have not added the wherewithall to secure a knarr, and until they do they will continue to be a rare and risky investment.

I'd rather have access to a boat such as linkfanpc proposed - small, fast, capable of carrying 4-6 boxes/objects and/or passengers, but only capable of portage when completely empty. That would be fairly easy to implement and secure without fuss. No clogging up the waterways with them. No boxing in the water. Not a whole lot of extra work for the devs. Just a smaller version of the knarr - a curragh or skiff, say - until someone comes up with a better idea for securing the knarr.

Am I a wimp, or is my thinking fairly prudent?

Personally I feel the Knarr is a bit OP in the amount it can carry, but besides that the main issue I have with the Knarr is like what you said. It's a lot of work to put into building something that someone can just walk along onto the village claim, turn criminal acts on, and sail off into the wilderness with it. It doesn't make much sense to have no way to protect something like that when we have the ability to protect our villages with palisades and brick walls.

I mean let's be fair, its not the first time this kind of problem has come up, people still complain about wagons being stolen, carts being stolen, hell, row boats being stolen. But all of those can at least be stored inside a palisade now so the main risk to the owner is when you take them outside.

I think it's awesome. Not secure at all, so many stealings happening involving them, maybe forcing a fight sometimes. More drama = better.

But it doesn't create drama by not existing because it hasn't been built.

What I meant is that what you said creates drama, at the same time discourages people to make knarrs.

Yes, but what encourages people to make knarrs is the fact that they're insanely overpowered (while not stolen). And knarrs are being built and stolen left and right, so they do exist.

Making a low quality speed 4 knarr isn't hard, so we did it - but making a highq one that can be stolen/beached/vandalised? Fuck that. It's nowhere near as fun without security.

Knarr's are fine I think. Yes they need some addition but no need to remove it.

I said this in another thread but a large portion of my gameplay revolve around stealing Knarr's and boats from unsuspecting Hearthlanders. I often call myself, appropriately, the boat bandit. I pray the devs do not remove the Knarr from the game as it adds much to the game in its current state.
