This is an idea I have been thinking on for a while. Trying to make it so its far, wont break the game, and add some flavor at the same time. Some of this is harsh and it should be, not every nice thing in the game should be kindly when shit hits the fan.
Basic rules:
All characters start as young adults.
If you in an age category above young adult and die, your respawn will be young adult.
If your stats are higher then what young the young adult allows, it will be reduced to fit.
Aging up requires XP and is not cheep.

+300 to all areas (600 base total)
Old
+300 to Abilities (skills) (900 base total)
+300 to Int and Psy (900 base total)
-20% to Str, Dex, Agility, Con
Ancient
+300 to Abilities (skills) (1,200 base total)
+300 to Int and Psy (1,200 base total)
-60% to Str, Dex, Agility
-80% to Con
Death of old age
This is the final stage, if you get this far as a sing of legacy the next character in the line gets a +10% cap increase with all stats and abilities. Which would stack if that character dies of old age. This could also add a Teen age group as part of this halving the basic stats, showing the fact you have a new character growing up.
