Velvet

Postby DaniAngione » Tue May 17, 2016 7:53 pm

It's a simple idea.

A new type of cloth: Velvet.

Velvet requires a special Loom to be made and can be made from wool threads, silk threads or linen cloth. It would be nice if the different raw material would affect the resulting velvet quality... For example, wool velvet could be the same quality as the raw material while linen velvet could be 0.2x the quality of the linen and silk velvet (the best velvet) would multiply the original silk quality by 2 or 3.

What matters is: Velvet should be red.
"But red velvet comes from dyeing and..." - shush! Silk ain't super blue either and yet it's in the game.

The idea is to have a red cloth we can use, since we already got white, yellow, blue and green clothes. That would be lovely for banners, trader stalls, etc...

Also, velvet stuff (napkins, tablecloths, clothing and robes, etc...) could bring new possibilities to character customization and all that.
(PS: Would love a wool cloth and hemp cloth tablecloth)

That's it :D

Maybe easier to just add cloth dye for doing this red.

I'd agree, yes. Would love to see dyes!
But they once explained that the way they made/coded things, though, adding something like dyes would be a lot of trouble/hassle. So it seems to be easier to just make new stuff. Like they made new hemp and linen clothes.

Besides, a new cloth (and its gear) would add a new layer of products to be worked on and also new benefits for gilding and such.

Sounds good for the color, apart from the quality of silk kind since 2-3 times multiplier seems excessive.

Truth, I've never been one of a q-grinder so my silk was always relatively bad compared to my fibres. The idea is that Velvet should be cloth of superior quality than fibre cloth, but it is obviously easier to grind fibres than silk :P

So, the exact math is a mystery to me... But the idea is that - I'm glad you like it :D
