Any thoughts on Traps/ trapping?

I've been thinking about this a little bit and i thought making traps for hunting and defense might be a cool idea.

It would be a new skill you would need to learn and it would allow you to make traps such as snares and bear/ leg traps. You could make snares for catching smaller animals like chickens and rabbits (maybe foxes to?). Maybe a dead fall traps (a big stone propped up with a stick and baited so an animal would go under the trap and get crushed by the rock). Some larger traps like a leg trap or bear traps, These would keep an animal held in place and maybe hurt them/ kill them if there smaller animals. Maybe even a pit fall that you would need to cover up and check to see if anything has fallen in.

Maybe some defensive traps traps could be made. Something like, again, a pit fall or spike fall. You could also have spring traps that would activate if someone stepped on a trigger point. These traps would be something like a tied back branch with wooden stakes on it that would spring forward and hurt someone.

A lot of the bigger game traps would be effective enough on a person. A persons ability to hide a trap would be based off there stealth and perception and the ability to see a trap would be based on the same if not than a perception and exploration? That's of course assuming you would be able to use them on people.

Not sure how well these could be implemented if people liked the idea but i thought it was worth putting out there. Let me know what people think of the idea

I see certain groups jumping through hoops to make sure the exits of all underdeveloped settlements within their reach keep stocked with invisible newbie impalers 24/7.

Well i was hesitant about the idea of using it on people. Maybe there not invisible and it's just un-observant people who would trip them. You make a good point though, i never thought about the greffing implementation something like that could have

you could just make traps that affect players disgustingly expensive to make so that they are used primarily in defense
