Why no bagpipes?

Postby SeventhSandwich » Thu Jun 16, 2016 12:10 am

Looking at all the instruments, I'm completely dumbstruck by the fact there's no bagpipes.

After all, they are the most rustic and ubiquitous instrument ever. Pretty much every agricultural society with tanned animal hides and wood has found a way to create bagpipes of some kind. It doesn't get much simpler than a watertight bag and a wooden reed.

I play bagpipes IRL and would be glad to give some advice about how to implement them.

+1 we need more annoying instruments to blast at our enemies neighbors.

They are if played badly, and 99% of people who play H&H are terrible instrument players.

All instruments are annoying when played badly. It's just the amount of tolerable incompetence is different with bad triangle solo and bad bagpipe concert.

Depending on how you implement it, you could actually make the bagpipes sound good (or at least realistic) on H&H. You could start by just cutting down the 'keyboard' to the notes actually found on a bagpipe. That way, no matter how incompetent the player is, it will sound kinda like someone screwing around on the bagpipes.

I really have no excuse.
