Moving Extraction Presses

Postby Forik » Fri Jul 01, 2016 3:46 am

There is LITERALLY no reason for us to not be able to lift and move winepresses around, I mean, our characters are so strong we can lift a boat with two mammoths inside it, even this wasn't the case, we should be able to lift the winepress without any liquids inside it.

Now to anyone who disagrees, I was getting angry at the fact that we couldn't move ours around, and my girlfriend said "maybe they're bolted to the ground or something" upon this point, I went over to google, and looked up winepresses, only to find that more modern ones had WHEELS on them. Now, I see three possible solutions to the problem, first one, let me squeeze grapes with my hands, second one, put wheels on winepresses and make them essentially pushable siege weapons, or lastly, we could all put our differences aside and make winepresses liftable, since there is no reason as to why they shouldn't be.

Yes, but now you'll go "but Forik, the winepresses in game are HUGE", to which I can only reply, they only hold 10 liters of wine, we can lift BARRELS that are TEN TIMES that weight. And no, the wood can not be that much of a hindrance either.

I am sorry about making my point in this way, everyone else that posts in this forum at least has a couple of sentences so I felt a little bit intimidated by that. I will attach a picture of a winepress to the post to demonstrate that they are not bolted to the ground in any way. I hope my arguments have been convincing enough to at least draw some attention to this pressing topic.

With the Floating Point shit you'll be able to roll it. Our character's are infinitely stronk, just can loft bulky objects, you can throw a mammoth over your shoulder or a boat over your head but Extraction Presses are weird and fucky shaped, so your character gets nervous and doesn't want to break it.

Yeah i agree i think its more of a structural integrity thing rather than a weight thing.

You can lift a loom though.
I think devs just forgot to make it liftable and didn't bother to fix it later. "Intended, not a bug".

This travesty must be rectified at once! Jorbtar PLEASE!
I've had this same conversation in my head many times, what a convenience it would be.

Also, that winepress looks legit as fuck. I bet it was tedious as hell to carve those large screws.

Yes, I think I can accept this lifting.

When I mentioned the alloying crucible should be liftable jorb's response was...

...so if the extraction press becomes liftable so should the crucible! (I realize one is made of wood but it's still much larger than the crucible)

I've always imagined the crucible was cemented onto the floor, however, upon looking up pictures of brick crucibles online, they seem to just be bricks stacked upon each other, to which, I could only say, they would very likely fall apart upon being lifted. However, the other type of crucible I found, made out of bricks, was nested on the floor, with a hole underneath it. I don't think you could really make a case for lifting either of these, when an extraction press is nailed and bolted together, and has a lot more structural integrity than a crucible.
