Cooking idea: Baking tray

I really liked Vera's idea of making food by using random ingredients viewtopic.php?f=48&t=50477
She also has pointed out that it would be a horrible waste of time for the devs that implemented each food recipe separately.
The compromise could be introducing the baking trays into the game.

Name: Baking tray
Space in character's inventory: 2
Materials: made from 2 bars of metal
Mechanics: You right-click the baking tray in your inventory and through various ingredients inside it. The end-product will be determined from the fep of ingredients with some random chance to get Fep+2 or even Fep+3. You have to place the baking tray inside of an baking oven, light it with 4 branches.

That way you could have the "free crafting" in cooking. Meanwhile, other food types will still be crafted, or even used for the baking tray.
Meaning of high quality metal, good oven and bricks will increase if the fep bonus will be determined from the average quality of the product.

Would there be some predetermined names, like if you had certain ingredients not match up you'd just get some nasty unedible shit, or would it all be the same name, just with different feps?
How would energy/satiations be calculated? Could see fights dragging for even longer if you could get some 10k energy food, because you could keep drinking water :oops:

There is a game called Don't Starve. They have this type of system with a coockpot (you can put ingredients inside it). It determines the end product by the proportion of the ingredients. Say, you've got 2 meat and 2 vegetables and get meatballs.
Or you've got 4 berries and get a jam.
Some flour, butter and whatever and get a pie.
If you'd mix up 4 goop you'd get a poop :D

I think it would be logical to add up the energy of the ingredients (like in real life you add up calories of the ingredients to count the final calorie intake). Same for satiation: satiate meat if it got meat added and etc.
Fights do not drag for a long time, since we've got horses. Moreover, I recall no-one dying from starvation in hafen, but Koru in world 6 during the chase. So, it is very unlikely or irrelevant to fighting really. It might be relevant for looting some other person's base or long distance travels, but will have a very little input (we have always been able to eat on our way).

We've talked about more freeform cooking systems from time to time.
