Have some of the craftable buildings be able to be "remodeled" where you could replace some core components to give a building better quality.
It's kind of annoying(albeit still a key component to the game) that you have to completely tear down some buildings in order to upgrade them when you start getting better quality. Take the Anvil for example, it's so hard to break, I don't even bother. I have 3 of them sitting outside my base, since I see no point in spending all the energy to break them.
I've kind of outlined some components that I figured wouldn't be bad:
New Skill - Artisan Craftsmanship
- Cost - 30,000 LP
- Requires most building skills(uncertain which ones?) to unlock
- Allows the builder to replace and upgrade certain buildings key components to make them better.
Building Upgrade Examples:
- Kiln - Hardened Coating - By replacing a large amount of the Kilns outer shell, it becomes better at firing bricks, and other useful tools and items.
- Anvil - Reinforced Shell - By re-coating the Anvil with a better metal, it becomes a smoother, more sturdy surface. Coating with a better metal has an effect on quality.
- Smelter - Solid Mortar - The Artisan Craftsman has an adept skill in perfection. By ensuring all air bubbles are out of the Mortar, they can then apply the best coating possible to ensure a completely solid structure.
- Note - keeping in mind the easy creation of bricks, Mortar could actually be something made and crafted in the wheelbarrow itself, and upon emptying the barrow, you sacrifice the mortar. Could be made with ground up Stone in the Quern, combining it some adhesive(bone glue?), and water. It must then be mixed in the wheelbarrow with a shovel.
- Herbalist Table - Replacement Wood - The Artisan Craftsman has a fine gift in all works of Skill. Noticing the state of certain materials, They can see things the untrained eye cannot. Replace poor quality wood with that of something greater.
This is a mere draft of an idea, but personally I think it would add to the list of possibilities for different characters to have jobs. Obviously the gatherer/crafter would be the Artisan Craftsman.
That's about as far on the idea that I got, thoughts?
P.S: This is not a 100% complete idea, I'm sure there are most likely loopholes that could be exploited, abused and generally wouldnt work. It would have to be tweaked, But please, if you feel only the need to troll the idea, refrain from commenting. Thank you.
