Recycle or deconstruct items and structures

Postby tyrtix » Sun Sep 04, 2016 4:52 pm

Hi, as some items and buildings, like meat grinders, cabins, chests, become less desirable and may need replacing, i think that may be useful a way to deconstruct them and get back some of the materials used to make them. I know i can just bash them down, but i feel is not a good solution.

Been discussed many times, but loftar thinks that saving every single component's quality would be too taxing for something that isn't really important.

Just average it based on item ql? I understand that the process may be taxing, eventually. I guess i'll just bash down m anvi repeatedly...

That could (thus would) be abused to spiral certain materials that otherwise are hard to get in high quality at certain stages of world development.

I'd be fine with just getting back q10 materials if it meant we could deconstruct things like charter stones and at least get half the rock crystals back for example.

This too is a solution, especially for big structures like towers or cabins, that needs lot of items that may be useful, even in low ql.

IMHo, it's too op for both structures demolishing and/or CS deconstruction (especially now, when there is a plenty of RC nodes on new map). And, c'mon, if you suggest something, take a breath and at least try to imagine how it may work - you deconstruct a tower and get what? 50 new stockpiles of refunded materials? where should they appear? they'll take much more space than tower itself. And what if some mats aren't "stockpilable" at all? or they just should appear laying on ground? Do you belive you will be so fast to collect them all before they despawn?
As for the topic - recycling of metal workstation (with 50% q10 metal bars refund) will be more than welcomed, but as DDDsDD999 mentioned - it was discussed so many times, that can be sticked here as a replacement for knarr security.

This is "critiques and ideas", not "give us ideas and the code to implement it", but i can think at least 3 ways to implement the deconstruction without great problems and without taxing the code and system of too much work.
We did not had all the big structures that we have now in other worlds, things changes and discuss things like this is normal while the game changes, also i see more positive answers than negative ones, maybe ppl likes this to be possible.

So the only proof these mysterious 3 way do ever exist is... you words? ok than.
And yes, this is "Critique and Ideas" thread, not "Say your wishes" thread. And afaik suggestions like "Bring dragons!" without any i-d-e-a-s counts as shitposting. IMO.

I can't see any "positive answers". Really, you shouldn't change the reality into something comfortable to you. There's literally no one positive answer in your thread. If you count kaios's reply - he wasn't serious - he knows he'll never get his RC back.
