To me personally it was big fun to grind combat discoveries.
I did it for 3 characters and it didn't get boring.

I would go even further and make a dependency between moves which player can get from Combat Discovery based on enemy type. Chops, Cleaves and Shield Ups from ants are no fun at all.
So that to get all kinds of moves player would have to kill all types animals many times.

On the other hand, providing some sophisticated mechanic to inherit some moves from ancestor would be great. (was discussed in another topic - Combat Manuals which only descendant can read).

I think that he means that you literally start with 1 card of each of the starter card, on default right now you get all of them maxed out, which means your whole deck on the first battle will probably be 4 punches and 1 jump.

The current system is no fun at all, when 80% of the moves are useless.

I like this idea. Currently it's pointless to get any more of those cards than you start with. Getting combat skills is fun and starting with 1 of each would make it more rewarding at low levels

I also think some combat moves should be inherited based on your UA/mc but that's a different topic

In general the discoveries are shit too. One of the most boring thing I did in haven. Stand in place, spam quick dodge if you dont have take aim and hopefully wait for disco.

You first have to fight against ants. I'm sure that ants will teach you how to properly chop or sting with sword :roll:
