mobs to guard a certain area. And after they are mopped up you should be able to enter the hole and it opens up an instance like
the house and there is some sick ass loot in the hole.
Everyone online will get an arrow pointing toward event so they can make their journey to compete for the dope loot and stuff.
You could also make it so there is a red glow or something when the ground is opening to signal the fucking craziness that is about
to go down.

OR just make the whole thing an event and by bringing up options on your hearthfire you can have to option to "enter the fiery pit" and be teleported randomly a single super grid 1x1 that is full of crazy mobs and other people teleporting in too.
So stoop1d noobs could tp in as well and run around grabbin dank loot and tp back to their hearthfire if they dont get interupted during tp. but yeah after supergrid is clear a pit could open up randomly and inside will be all the dope ass loot and there will be dead bodies everywhere.
IMAGINE ALL THE BLOOD FROM THE DUDES LEAVING THEIR FUCKING HOLE IN THE GRoUND BASE!!!
MAYBE MAKE DRAGONS COME OUT OR SUMTHIN AM I RITE?
