About Pathfinding

Postby sMartins » Thu Sep 29, 2016 6:32 pm

So i have this idea...let me know if is good, bad...or if it can/cannot be done.

Right now (default client)...if you hit a tree while running your character stop, and if you keep clicking in the same direction your char is stuck, you need to navigate...
So we can add a sort of animation, like when you are near cliffs, in a way when you click once your char start to run and stop when hit a tree...but if you click a second time (always same direction) your char start to walk (one speed lower than your current) around the tree and stop on the other side....clicking third time (same direction) you start to run again in the original diretion beyond the tree....let me know what you think.

Try to ask Loftar about it))) All I can say you - everytime any pathfinding issues/ideas appears - jorb says we need to wait before FPC-system will be implemented. And he doesn't says it will solve any of this issues, but we should just wait to start the whine again )

More info on floating point test server viewtopic.php?f=39&t=49805

There should be fewer weird failure modes in animal pathfinding.

It sounds like Pathfinding can be done now, but FPC would allow a smoother movement.
