An actual good idea for pvp+ strawpoll

Postby overtyped » Mon Oct 03, 2016 9:28 am

You know how quests have a arrow that points to quest giver? what if there was that same arrow for when a expensive curio is about to spawn?
A mother of pearl or ice for example.

You could change settings to which arrows you'd like to see, to see different nodes that will spawn soon in your supergrid. These arrows could be toggled on or off, so it won't annoy people that aren't interested, but for people who want these resources, and desire to contest it, it would certainly make this game more interesting.
I could see people spending literally all day everyday just chasing arrows and fighting for nodes.

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

On initial reading it did appear to be quite a good idea but within seconds you then realise that would put all the special resources even further into the hands of the factions than they are already, yes it would no doubt increase pvp amongst those groups but also completely denies the rest of the player base any chance of access to them except at the start of a new world, once the factions are established the rest of the player base can kiss goodbye to any hope of ever getting their hands on them without trading for ridiculous amounts of money ... and some resources spawn so infrequently and are too valuable to the factions to even be up for trade!

So, no, bad idea for the general population.

Amanda, can you do me a favor? When you see that there is "PVP" in a thread dont open it, please. And if you really have to open it, dont reply. It will be the best that you can do for the community.

I believe this affects not only PVP lovers but general community as well, sorry to go against you on this one but she does fit under general community so she does technically have a vote in it.

Be a man and accept that others have opinions too, please, even if you deem them uninformed, stupid or not to your liking.
Also have some confidence that others posting will give datapoints to the devs to extract insight from.

Lol, I do understand where you are coming from Ozzy and when the subject is pure pvp you know I rarely comment and when I do it is normally to ask questions, but, as Granger and King have pointed out (thanks guys .. :) ) this idea directly affects the whole of the player base and I am perfectly within my rights to have an opinion on it that reflects the non pvp stance. I did say that yes it would be good for the pvp players but, not so good for everyone else, which is true.
So, yes when you are talking about pure pvp I'll try my best to oblige you but, other than that, no, sorry, no can do. :)

Yeah ozzy stop being a nasty pig and let other speak!
While you may be good at pvp (that is questionable    ) the game consists of much more things

This pvp idea would be rather at favor of major factions and those clash frequently enough
In my opinion theres not enough random encounters and 1v1 duels but just pain in the ass stalking tracking and hiding

I came back as I have an idea ... :)

As said, initially it does seem like a good idea, so, instead of dismissing it entirely what about if we take the idea but just change the goal, i.e. rather than the special resources being targeted how about something new that would appeal more directly to pvp'ers and less to us peaceful noobs, but still of interest that some may try for it. Like special armour or sword/bow, sort of like Excalibur, ofc, these items shouldn't give any massive kind of stat boost but perhaps could incorporate some sort of fair bonus, but mainly be because of their uniqueness, akin to the dev capes.

You could still use the same mechanic, a different weapon, shield or armour spawns periodically throughout the worlds timespan and the arrows would appear and it would, hopefully, generate the same interest amongst those wanting to fight.

Would this interest pvp players?
