alt or ctrl or some other modifier

same action doing very different stuff in two slightly different contexts is bad

Take a look at custom clients: most have a 'take all of that type' click modifier, which is way more handy than 'take all'.

Nevertheless, I like the idea of being able to pull from containers without having to open them - but as Sabinati stated the UI should be as consistent as possible.

in the client i use there is config options for taking all items of a certain type from an open container - one key setup for asc and one for desc. something like that would be great. taking stuff from a container without having to open it first is a good idea functionally but the overlap between shift click fueling is problematic without the ability to set modifier keys in an option menu. option menu for this kind of thing - that listed all of the things like this post: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=42999#p533705 would be ideal.

Pretty sure the point was to "take all without opening it".

How would it be "consistent" to suddenly use a different modifier than Shift for bulk operations?

because shift clicking on a smelter with fuel on your cursor fills the smelter with fuel, shift clicking without fuel on the smelter takes all the stuff out of the smelter, so if you click 1 extra time it does a completely different operation

In case the client would realize that the user wants to put in stuff (shift held, item on cursor) and would lock into that mode till shift is released (so when running out of items to pull from inventory the mode of operation dosn't change) it would be fine.
