Repurpose dowsing rod to detect water Q

Postby ricky » Wed Oct 26, 2016 10:48 pm

now that wells can be built effectively anywhere, could we get dowsing rods repurposed to detect water Q nodes, perhaps capped by survival or dowsing rod Q?

It would be nice to be able to know what Q water we're going to be getting before dumping about 5,000 rope into a well.

IMHO the suggested mechanic would make it to easy to locate all the water quality nodes. As it is currently the ones near open water are claimed very quickly already, this would destroy any hope of being able to find a decent one on land also (at least in case your skipped the rush at a world reset or expansion).

So please: no.

Even with this changing it is still much more hard to find water than clay or dirt.

my intention was instead of the dowsing rod ping'ing towards high Q water nodes, it just 'samples' the water q right beneath your feet, which would resolve the issue of people just hunting down all the good water nodes. you would still have to manually search for good water, just on land.
