SacreDoom and Amanda44 are correct,
I meant that if you have say "2 carrot" seeds, "3 cucumber seeds", etc. - if you can throw them add hoc into troughs or pens or hutches, why not be able to have a similar object that creates a generic grass seed from them, much like a composter, but the end result is grass seed rather than dirt.
Otherwise I've got 1 inv. slot being used for 2 carrot seeds, 1 inventory slot being used for 3 cucumber seeds and if I STORE them to wait until I have multiple of 5, then I'm still using up a lot of inventory slots. Particularly annoying when you're also saving out "fussy" amounts of seeds for trying to increase crop quality as a beginning farmer. That's why I suggested it. Plus, I don't think EVERYTHING in the game needs to be necessarily about efficiency and/or efficacy of working up to being a better raider and/or hunter. Some ppl play the game for the quests, the skills and being able to design and build...and to try and stay alive amidst all the hunters and raiders - lol! (Hey, its the HUNGER GAME!) So having new machines/equipment/furniture is also a nice benefit that offers an interesting, but not game imbalancing benefit are pretty cool imo.
