Current learning point system

Postby Zetoe » Fri Nov 11, 2016 10:52 pm

I'm new to this game, and this topic is for "Critique" so I just though I'd say that I love just about everything about this games theme, and even how difficult it is to get anything done. Everything feels very rewarding. I have but one complaint. The current Learning Points system. I see on Wiki's and such online that you used to get a small amount of learning points for doing just about anything, which is a system I would prefer. Currently you do seemingly arbitrary and often broken incomplete randomized quests with no direction to get a lot of your exp past your initial discovering of items? Was this system put in place to discourage botting or something? I'd prefer to be able to go about my business and learn and grow in a way that actually makes sense instead of running off to talk to a rock, you know?

Not sure how many new players this game gets on a regular basis, so I just figured I'd post my newbie insight and see if that in any way helps game direction.

i remember the old LP system and loved it but there were russian botters that would just cut trees and make buckets and get huge amounts of LP that way

everything is infested with bots and such LP system was introduced to prevent botting and massive lp gains and as much as i would love it back i think its impossible now

Yes it was removed to stop botters, the current LP system is flavor full in an off way. But its now as much a part of the game as the FEP system. Though they did add back gaining LP when you kill an animal. So want lots of quick LP, hunt things.

Even long before botting was a problem, though, even players like myself with no connection to botting were making buckets, saws and wicker baskets only for the LP, which just felt boring and retarded, so even though botting was what broke the camel's back, we had been looking to replace the old LP system regardless.

Also, the "main" way to get LP is not quests, but curiosities.

As someone who enjoys cooking in games, and would probably spend most of my time making meals and giving them out to people, I wish I could make LP for cooking difficult recipes at least...

At the very least give us an option for gaining LP by doing things that are actually somewhat difficult or unspammable, you know? Like if I want to catch a specific fish or hunt a specific animal in order to make food, that can't really be botted can it? I'd like to still be rewarded for that. I've yet to get far enough to be able to cook anything complex so this may very well be the case, and I sure hope so. If not, come on guys. The animal hunting thing is interesting, and I'll keep that in mind for sure.

Curos are not that hard to find, XP is easy you get that from doing things you would normaly. Some Mushrooms you can study, flowers. So you can get LP gaining items while you are out foraging for cooking ingredients. I love the cooking part of this game a lot, they are only making it better and better to.

I wonder what is logic behind lore events. Sometimes I feel like you dont get one in days. But suddenly you get multiple ones in row

From what I've observed, lores have a timer, something like 12 hours. When the timer is up, you can get that specific lore again, then you have to wait to get it again on that character. On top of that, I think there's a random chance of it happening as well. Those two together make it seem pretty random.

There should be more long duration curios. They wouldnt offer as good LP/hour as stuff like seers bowls. But they would be cheaper to mass produce for those who dont play that much, but still want to have something in their studies.
