LP rewards

Postby Chebermech » Sun Nov 13, 2016 8:27 pm

Learning point reward for killing animals is a great addition, but hunting itself is pretty rewarding if you ask me. It is one of the most entertaining things in the game at the moment, but what about mundane things like crafting, chopping trees down and butchering for countless hours and most importantly farming? Even mining is more exciting than that, even with a slight chance of death by trolls. Please take in the the account the amount of time and character's energy all these activities take (and maybe even quality) including all the required manipulations including but not limited to moving, storing/stockpiling and so on (ex. the process of making silk takes much longer than crafting an apple pie).

Botting, the reason is botting. If we gave lp for mining than we'd have alts mining holes for grids on end, with other alts building supports. Get killed by a Troll? Cool you just found a Troll. Same with felling trees and such. The reason hunting gives lp is because it's very hard to bot an alt to fight past ants, which would eventually kill it from armor piercing and openings.

I think it is still possible to find middle ground in all this, even if you use bots, chopping trees take a lot of energy and you need to eat lots of food and drink water non stop. So say you spent an hour chopping trees on bot or manually, getting rid of ~ 50 of trees, even if they give more LP depending on quality, people who do it manually will be rewarded greatly for time they spent. And people who use sophisticated bots like that (even more sophisticated for making silk or cheese), will have no problem getting LP either way, so they won't even notice the LP they get from these actions. Don't forget you need raw materials, and sustain you character, so unless you have a huge infrastructure you won't be able to support non stop botting, and once again if you do have that infrastructure, a few extra lp won't matter that much. And once again to prevent rainforest extinction, the LP # can be tweaked depending on a quality of a product you are working on/producing.

Hunting is already problematic, and with it you at least kind of have to leave your base. Not particularly keen on more of this.
