Linseed oil cost of sketches

Relatively small sketch (had to fit on the severely limited cape area), and it ended up taking almost 4 whole buckets of linseed oil to craft.

I have this ridiculous mental image of my hearthling dumping buckets of linseed oil on a painting, then holding up the finished product.

Maybe the cost could be assessed for revision. When I was ready to start sketching, I had plenty of oil anyway... it was just annoying. For awhile I was getting that error message and wondering just what I was missing. Yes, I know the amount required is on the crafting table, but I guess I wasn't looking very hard at it. It didn't even occur to me that multiple buckets wouldn't be enough.

The cost could be a flat value with a (smaller) multiplier added based on the fields value, if that's not how it works already.

It is no 38.50 litters, its 385 litters oil you need.

Create a cleaner image, or use a store sketch.

Small time

120l of linseed oil

My biggest craft so far has been a 85l linseed oil cat shield. Totally worth.

try to optimize the image by saving it as a png with a limited number of colours ( 3 for example )

How large is it as well? Given your bound to lose some information, making it smaller does reduce the oil cost. I want a green gape I have a 10x10 pic that is green. Making the pigment and oil cost not to bad.

The image is the max size, 512x512, but I was under the impression that, say, an 8x8 image applied to the same object (at that lower resolution) would cost the same amount of oil and pigment, since it's technically covering the same amount of surface area ingame. I guess not! Can't get as much detail in a smaller resolution image, but it's still helpful. Thanks!

ya it covered the same area so the pigment will be in cost. But size whats its drawing from is more blown up then not the oil cost is down. The green spot I used for my cloak (when wearing a druids cloak). Past the pigment cost is like cheap cheap cheap/ 5 Unites of linseed out (so yes that tiny), and 100 of the possible pigment combo (so 100 unites of green pigment). I have a plant in a pot silhouette got down to 90 units of oil, 20 black and 81 green, and its 100x100.

So yes size does matter as well as how complex it is.
