Why the KO system for hunting is retarded

You can die more easily if you have high SHP instead of low SHP. With lower SHP you will get knocked out and no longer be attacked. With high SHP you will continue to accrue deadly wounds and possibly die.

Make there be some way to yield in combat. Maybe it causes you to get instantly knocked out or something.

sorry m8, animals usually don't listen when you want to stop.

how about you hunt:

1. near cliffs
2. near cave entrances
3. with a boat nearby

I would also like to recommend that you get some armor, some sheep and some yarrow

the armor for obvious reasons, the sheep for gauze and the yarrow cause you can now farm it and have a supply on hand.

Regarding yarrow I must say that it is quicker (in terms on game time spent to heal a certain amount of points) to forage it (at least in the area I'm in) than to grow it.

Problem with current system imho is the ko when you lose a fight being no fun because of the concussion being too harsh.

There's a way to yield in the PvE, it's called Quell the Beast.

The fact that this spell costs an overly large amount of XP is an entirely different question.

well your title does say why the KO system for HUNTING is retarded

also, don't really understand what you are trying to state on the premise of you die easier with high shp rather than low shp.
so if ya would mind trying to explain it fuller, then maybe?

At high shp/hhp, it takes more hits for you to KO, thus giving a greater chance for you to receive hhp wounds. At low shp/high hhp, you'll only take one or two hits before KO'ing and will have fewer wounds.
