crazy wolf idea

Postby viznew » Sun Dec 04, 2016 7:51 am

well i posted this in a post about dogs this

but i cant stop thinking about it so ill dive deeper into this crazy prob impossable idea

wolf den
Image

A den usually have 1-3 openings which are usually marked by a large pile of dirt
The den is usually constructed not more than 500 metres away from a water source
"pupsitter" is appointed by the pack to watch over the puppies when the mother must leave

picture a large ants nest (in game currently) but looks more like a mine hole but not quite with multi entrances not too far apart and goes to a closed area that is only accessable throu the den opening it always has a few wolfs near by protecting the openings and inside is usually where you find wolf puppies and alpha wolfs(stronger then your avg wolf basiclly) once a den distroyed it takes long time to respawn a pack or dissappers and reappers else where

territory
Image

The act of scratching the ground in a backward motion, usually with the hind legs, and sometimes also with the front, is typically performed by dominant wolves, but may also be done by mid-ranking individuals depending on the circumstances. Wolves do this scraping as a type of marking behavior, such as to announce a territory boundary to an opposing pack, or to claim a food item as their own

the alphas are the only ones that mark territory (say thay can mark a tree and basiclly like a village banner for the pack) thay only connect territory that touches their other territory based on the connection with the den thay should cover larger areas and player shouldnt see it imo but to say get rid of a pack that roams near your "place" you chop tree down and remove stump and hope thay pick a different direction to "roam"

cache
Image

In an attempt to protect food that cannot be consumed immediately, wolves have adopted a behavior known as caching. To cache is to bury food in a shallow depression thus preventing avian scavengers from detecting the item

say if thay kill a player they will bury the body and all gear in a shallow grave near the den and to find kinda gotta randomly dig (mabye will be slightly depressed in the ground) after den distoryed can no longer dig for them after a short time so its a risk to try it

thats all i got on this for now doupt it chould happen

Not on topic...but you make me think that some feature that allow to dig and bury threasures would be a must to have for this game.

Maybe some special items to be collected from raiding caches? And different variations of wolves, like they get some randomized stats so some are harder to kill, and if packs got into fights (maybe if we tame dog fighting too) the different stats would determine who wins the fight.

This sounds pretty metal. Going into wolf dens as a sort of dungeon would be pretty cool!

The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

Myeah, some such. Dens and burrows are something we've considered.

then mabye if thay roaming or moving thay can move in a sorta tatical pattern like this

1st few wolfs weakest but not long after youll be dealing with the power wolfs, middle is generally protected if atk there will likly face entire pack, the back is the strongest point with the leader and other power wolfs, but thay dont get back up nearly as fast as the front for middle, thou whould require a spread out movement for them to be able to acually take advantage of it

saw this and loved it
