Natural cave galleries

So you finally find that neat good ql ore/rock node, you walk up to it to start mining and BAM, half of it is gone.

You could argue that said rock was (according to the text) never there to begin with, but c'mon.
It would be a nice thing whenever it happened if atleast it dropped the mineral corresponding to the tiles it opened. Makes no sense, but atleast is a good thing. Right now it's just kind of annoying and disruptive :? .

I can't even count the number of times that this's happened to me, and it definitely sucks. However, excluding the possibility that galleries form inside veins of ore wouldn't make much sense either. If anything, having galleries appear between the dividing line of the strata of rock types makes the most sense.

Yes, but the problem with it is that it wastes whatever rock material it removes on its way, not the fact that they might not make 100% sense from a "realistic" standpoint, as is questioned in the other thread.
Therefore I think it's not related.

Loftar, you realize that it does the exact opposite of that?
A cave collapse usually fills the cave with matter, this does the opposite.

Should you change it that the resources inside the wall (incl. curios) are dropped on the generated tiles, I would be ok with the feature.
As it is now, I just hate it and perceive it as broken.

Fair enough, though that thread died after that post was made. Sorry, I tried using the search function and didn't immediately find it that way.
If anything, the mods could merge this one to it, but it would be neat if there was some further discussion on this.

Thank you for your service, mr Yshbot. Now back on topic please :D

You are not wrong. My point is just that ''this is brought up in past and developer does not comment on issue despite having read it.'' Other stuff is maybe useful as context as well. I have impression that current situation is no good, but fixing it is more trouble than is worth (or at least, it has not been gotten around to yet).

I'll let the developers decide on that. I, for one, personally do not think it should be difficult at all to implement.
What happened was the other thread focused on the "muh realism" side of this issue, rather than the fact that it's simply annoying to lose useful material because of some event (that might have been made with convenience / gameplay in mind, but only backfires most of the time).

This event more than annoying when you want to dig a perfect looking space for some aesthetic purposes.

I don't think mining should be entirely predictable.
