I think steam & GoG is a good way to have people to play this game.

I don't know the exact post, but I believe the developers don't want to compromise on their ability to have free and complete control over the development of their game. So that's the reason why they haven't sought any third-party support.
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

Dont forget that Steam takes a large chunk of any purchase made.. If Jorbtar where to integrate the shop through steam they would lose a large portion of potential income.

And if memory serves, simply putting a game on Steam Greenlight inst cheap either.

While it would be nice for Hafen to get that kind of exposure, its not very worth it for how niche this game is.

Word of mouth and good ol marketing are still the best options.
