You know how Dota and TF2 are cancerous and filled with tons of dirt cheap items? Well, fools such as me, love to buy dirt cheap vanity items. I've bought countless DOTA item sets because it's like $0.08 per item.
Now, I don't know how well that would work in Haven, where the amount of vanity items seems to be quite limited. But honestly, people like me, are probably going to spend money on whatever you put up in the shop. And a lot of people talk about how they'd "spend X dollars" on whatever, but I don't feel like a lot of people live up to that. I saw how you mention that Salem actually still managed to be financially more successful to haven due to the few "whales" that played it. And that really doesn't seem to surprise me.
I don't know how many times I've seen friends talk about how much they enjoyed a game, but only pirated and never sent a single cent to the creator. And the thing is, even if these players make a majority of the player base, they are literally
WORTHLESS to the developer. No matter how you look at it, endeavors such as this, take incredible man hours, and if that can't be profitable, development cannot continue.
Sure, go cry how Haven is p2w, but at the end of the day. If you're not spending a cent, you can royally go fuck yourself. Go cry about how your free entertainment isn't quite entertaining enough for you.
